  1. Match report. West District Division 2

    Giffnock I (1) – (5) Loch Lomond I

First game of the season saw Loch Lomond 1s travel to play recently relegated Giffnock and were pleased to make a good start to their league campaign by taking all 3 points after a well fought game. The scoreline didn’t reflect the pace of the game as Giffnock were a good, skilful and fast team.

However, working as a team, Loch Lomond managed to score 4 fantastic team goals and one from a short corner. The first 4 goals were a delight to watch as the ball moved unselfishly from defence to midfield then on to the forwards. The fantastic strikers worked for each other and for the team.

The club was delighted to welcome back some players to the Loch Lomond family, players that were away at university, were injured or were on maternity leave! Excellent performance by our returnees Kim McCallion, who scored a hat trick; Kirsty Cordner and Becky Holland who also added one each to the score line.

Lots to work on but lots of positives too. An overall solid team performance and a season ahead to very much look forward to.

Player of the Match was awarded to Kim McCallion, runner up was Becky Holland and Opposition Player of the Match was awarded to Vanesa Sabala.

Team: Heather Smith, Caroline Lyall, Sue Aitkman, Eve Howard, Hannah Leach, Lucy Dunlop, Kirsty Richardson, Vanesa Sabala, Becky Holland, Lauren McCreadie, Molly Macken, Kirsty Cordner, Kim McCallion, Megan Glover

Many thanks to Andy Richardson for umpiring and coach Anne McGregor for encouragement and guidance.
